What stays on your Mac

• Your voice. Audio is captured only while you hold your dictation key, turned into text on your Mac, and then thrown away. It's never saved or uploaded.
• What you dictate. The text is typed into the app you're using. Eloksen doesn't keep a history of it.
• Words on your screen. To spell names right, Eloksen can read the words in the window you're typing into while you talk. They're held in memory for that one dictation, then discarded. They're never saved or sent. You can turn this off in Settings.
• Your settings, dictionary and word count. These are stored on your Mac. The word count is only a number (it unlocks looks for the pill); it never includes what you said.
• Logs. Eloksen keeps a small log on your Mac to help fix problems. It never contains the words you dictate.

When Eloksen uses the internet

• Speech model download. The first time you use it, Eloksen downloads its speech model from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). This is a normal file download; Hugging Face sees the request like any website would (for example your IP address).
• Update checks. Eloksen checks GitHub for new versions. It doesn't send any information about you or your Mac beyond the request itself.
• Turning on your license. When you buy, Eloksen sends a random ID that only your Mac knows to eloksen.com, to pick up your license key. We hold that ID and your key only until your Mac collects it (at most 7 days), then delete them. Eloksen then activates the key with Lemon Squeezy, sending the key and your Mac's name, so you can see which Macs use your key and so it works on 2 Macs. After that, Eloksen never checks your license online again.

Bug reports

If you choose Report a Bug, Eloksen sends your note to eloksen.com, and from there to our support inbox. You can add your email so we can reply. If you leave "Include technical details" on, it also sends the app and macOS version, your Mac's model, a few settings (like your shortcut and pill look) and the recent lines of Eloksen's log, which never contain what you dictated. You can see exactly what will be sent before you press Send. We keep reports for up to 30 days in our server's storage, plus the email in our inbox. Nothing is sent unless you press Send.

Buying Eloksen

Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our reseller and merchant of record. They collect your name, email, payment and billing details to process the order, handle tax, and send your receipt and license key, as described in their own privacy policy. We never see your card details. We can see your order (name, email, country and what you bought) so we can help you if you lose your key or need support.

This website

eloksen.com uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device. We count visits to the website (never to the app) to learn what's working: which page you opened, which parts you scrolled to and which buttons or questions you clicked, where you came from (the referring site, or a link tag like ?ref=instagram), your country and your device type. To count you once a day without identifying you, the server makes a one-way code from the date, your IP address and browser, which changes every day; your IP address itself is never stored. These counts are kept for up to 400 days and never shared or used for ads.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes basic request data (such as your IP address) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. The site loads nothing from other companies' servers. To stop abuse, the address a bug report comes from is counted for up to an hour, then forgotten.

Email

If you write to us, we keep your email so we can reply and help. We don't add you to any list.

Your choices

• Turn off reading words on screen in Eloksen's Settings.
• Bug reports are only sent when you press Send, and you can leave out the technical details.
• To remove everything Eloksen stored on your Mac, delete the app and its settings. Email us if you'd like help.

Seeing or deleting your data

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it. Email eloksensupport@gmail.com from the address you used with us and say what you'd like. We'll reply within 30 days. We'll delete your bug reports and emails, and ask Lemon Squeezy to delete your order details, except what they must keep by law (such as tax records). Deleting your order details also means we can't resend your license key.

We don't sell or share your personal information, and we never use it for advertising. You won't be treated differently for asking.

Children

Eloksen isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
